What Are PDO Threads?
15 June 2020
They are absorbable suture threads that have been placed in sterile needles and when released into the skin they lift the skin and stimulate collagen production.
PDO threads have been used successfully for more than 30 years, in many surgeries worldwide. This treatment is completely safe. It is approved by the FDA for safety and efficiency. Moreover, hundreds of thousands of treatments have been performed and there are no reports of allergic reactions, sensitivities to the threads, or serious side effects or risks.
There are two types of threads, lifting threads for sagging skin to give a more immediate effect and smooth threads to stimulate the reproduction of collagen and bring new blood flow to an area. It mechanically results in instant skin lifting, skin tightening and neovascularisation to renew your skin at the cellular level. All of this works together to give you enhanced skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles and more elastic skin.
The Hyaluronic acid in the PDO thread lift treatments is also an important requirement for a more youthful and slightly plumper face, thereby offering results similar to that of a facelift without the need for invasive surgery.
Recovery after a PDO thread lift is minimal. Most patients are able to return to work and most normal activity 1 day after the procedure with only minor discomfort. It is common for patients to experience minor inflammation and bruising which typically resolves within 1 week.
